Río Sarapiquí: is an affluent of the River San Juan, throughout its route have one of the greatest tropical rainforest in the country with exuberant flora and fauna.
Río Tárcoles: also called Río Grande de Tarcoles, flows to the oceano Pacific through the peninsula of Nicoya. The river delimits the northern border of the biological reserve of Carara
Río Tempisque: has a route of 138 kilometers in length, is born from Guanacaste Mountain range near the volcano of Orosí and emptying into the Gulf of Nicoya. In its route passes through Palo Verde National Park. This river has the bridge "Puente del Río Tempisque" which communicates the Nicoya peninsula with the southern of Guanacaste.
Río Tenorio: born near the Tenorio Volcano where it becomes a fast moving river and flows to the Corobicí River.
Lakes in Costa Rica
Lago Arenal (Arenal Lake): it is a vast water body surrounded by waved hills that maintain pasture and patches of forest. On the east side of the lake, can observe the Arenal volcano which regularly does eruption throwing streams of lava and great ash clouds. The Arenal lake is specially popular with the fishermen and "windsurfers".
